Updated July 29, 2026
Apple is introducing a new iOS 27 Phone app feature called Call Context. It can place useful information, such as an airline confirmation code, directly on the screen when you call a business.
Call Context does not turn Siri into an automated customer service agent. You still place the call and speak with the company yourself. The feature simply helps you find relevant information without leaving the Phone app.

Quick Answer
iOS 27 Call Context uses Apple Intelligence to surface information related to the business you are calling.
When you call an airline, for example, it may find a flight confirmation code in Mail and display it on the call screen. Apple says the matching is based on who you are calling rather than the call audio.
The feature requires an Apple Intelligence-compatible device and is initially coming in English.
What Is Call Context in iOS 27?
Call Context is an Apple Intelligence feature built into the Phone app. It proactively searches for information that may be useful during a call with a business.
Apple's main example involves calling an airline. Instead of opening Mail and searching for the booking message, the Phone app can bring the relevant confirmation code into the active call interface.
Apple says Call Context can find information from across apps. However, Mail and airline booking details are currently the clearest confirmed example. Apple has not published a complete list of supported apps, companies or reservation formats.

How Does Call Context Find a Confirmation Code?
The iPhone recognizes the company or business number you are calling.
Apple Intelligence looks for potentially relevant details stored in supported apps.
A booking code or reservation card may appear directly on the call screen.
For an airline call, the matching information could include the route, travel date and confirmation number contained in a booking email.
The process is automatic, but it is not guaranteed to work with every company. Call Context may show nothing when the number, email or reservation format cannot be recognized.
Does Call Context Listen to Your Phone Call?
Call Context does not use the audio of the conversation to decide which information should appear.
According to Apple, the feature looks at who you are calling rather than what is being said. The matching process takes place on the device, so the relevant personal information is not sent to Apple or a third party for Call Context processing.
Call Context is separate from call recording.
Recording, transcription and call summaries are different Phone app features. Using one of those features does not describe how Call Context finds a booking code.
What Call Context does not currently do
- Call a company on your behalf
- Listen to the conversation to understand your problem
- Navigate an automated phone menu for you
- Negotiate a refund or reservation change
- Replace you during the customer service call
Which iPhones Support Call Context?
Call Context requires Apple Intelligence. Being able to install iOS 27 does not automatically mean the iPhone can use the feature.
iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, all iPhone 16 models and newer Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhones.
iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, the iPhone 14 series and older models do not support Apple Intelligence.
This means an older iPhone may receive the general iOS 27 interface and performance improvements while missing Call Context and other Apple Intelligence features.
For users upgrading to the latest Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhones, choosing the right case is also important. A premium ZEERA MagSafe Case for iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 18 Pro Max is designed for users who want strong MagSafe compatibility while keeping wireless charging convenient and reliable.
ZEERA MagSafe cases combine slim protection, strong magnetic alignment and compatibility with modern MagSafe accessories, making them a practical choice for users who frequently use wireless chargers, car mounts and other magnetic accessories.
Why Is Call Context Missing After Updating?
The regular iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus and older models cannot use Call Context even when they run iOS 27.
Open Settings, select Apple Intelligence & Siri, and confirm that Apple Intelligence is enabled.
After an update, keep the iPhone connected to Wi-Fi and power while the required Apple Intelligence files finish downloading.
Apple currently describes Call Context as coming in English. Other languages have not received a confirmed release schedule.
The relevant email may be missing, stored in an unsupported location or written in a format that Call Context cannot recognize.
A personal number, regional support line or unfamiliar business number may not trigger a Call Context result.
English and Regional Availability
Apple currently labels Call Context as coming in English. It has not announced when Chinese, Japanese, German, French, Spanish or other languages will be added.
Apple has also not published a separate country-by-country availability list for Call Context. The feature should therefore not be described as US-only, but it should not yet be described as available in every country either.
Availability may depend on the device language, Siri language, Apple Intelligence availability and local regulatory restrictions.
How Call Context Worked in an iOS 27 Beta Test
In a July 2026 test reported by 9to5Mac, Call Context displayed Southwest Airlines flight information when the writer called the airline about a booking change.
The iPhone also offered to read the confirmation number aloud. A second Southwest booking appeared underneath the first result, allowing the user to switch between multiple matching flights.
This is useful evidence that the feature works in a real beta environment. However, it remains one reported test and does not confirm identical support for every airline, hotel or retailer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Call Context the same as Siri calling a company for me?
No. You still place the call and speak with the business. Call Context only surfaces information that may be useful during the conversation.
Does Call Context work on the regular iPhone 15?
No. It works on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, but not the standard iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Plus.
Does Call Context record the conversation?
No. Call Context does not rely on call audio to find relevant information. Call recording and transcription are separate Phone app features.
Can Call Context read a confirmation number aloud?
An iOS 27 beta test showed this option during an airline call. Apple has not confirmed that read-aloud support will appear for every business or booking.
Will Call Context work outside the United States?
Apple has not described the feature as US-only. However, initial availability may vary by language, country, business recognition and Apple Intelligence support.
Why does nothing appear when I call a business?
The business number may not be recognized, or the iPhone may not find a matching booking, reservation or order record in a supported app.
Bottom Line
iOS 27 Call Context is designed to reduce the need to search through emails while speaking with a business. It can identify who you are calling and display potentially relevant information, such as an airline confirmation code, on the active call screen.
It does not replace the user, negotiate with customer service or use the conversation audio to determine what information is needed. The feature requires an Apple Intelligence-compatible device, is initially coming in English and may not recognize every company or reservation format.
